Glenelg Golf Club

The Glenelg Golf Club was founded in 1927 on an undulating sandy site to the north-east of Glenelg, a coastal suburb of Adelaide. Crafter + Mogford principal Neil Crafter, in conjunction with his father Brian, worked with the club through the 1980s to improve their course. In 1998, the club asked Neil Crafter and seasoned SA professional and tournament promoter Bob Tuohy to work together to develop a comprehensive redevelopment plan for the course and eliminate the kikuyu fairway turf in the process. Three holes a year were redesigned and reconstructed with new 'Santa Ana’ couchgrass fairways, and the redevelopment was complete by 2004. One of the features of the redevelopment was the introduction of sod revetted bunkering across the course, a feature that further enhances the course’s links character.

Since that time C+M have prepared a Course Enhancement Plan to further improve the course and works from this are regularly implemented. The redevelopment has seen the club’s national Top 100 ranking lift considerably over the ensuing years, with its ranking jumping from 93 in the 2004 Australian Golf Digest Top 100 ranking up to a position of 39 in the 2018 list.
